I now have a working card. I bought a Belkin PCI Express card that works. Unknown to me (and I still dont believe it) there is a difference between PCIe and PCI Express (according to the Mac Store in Seattle). I thought they were the same thing. I thought the “E” stands for express. In any case the new PCI Express card works and the other PCI-e card did not work. Confusing, to say the least.

Ummmm no. It’s PCI-Express as I said:

In any case, I brought this G5 to my local Mac Genius Bar and the genius said that the card appears to be “incompatable” for whatever reason and suggested I buy another card. Does anyone have any good recommendation for a PCI-Express Firewire 800 card for a dual core G5?

I cant believe how many people have this problem. I did have some luck doing the following:
I made a new project and then dragged the sequence into the browser of the new project. When I exported the movie the sync appeared to be much better. I am not sure if this is a total fix since I didnt watch the whole program yet. Also, when I open the new export in Quicktime player it says that the duration is 49:59, when it should be 50 minutes exactly. Where did this one second go. Hmmmmm…………. (scratching my head).

No I have not done that because then it would have to redo the tracking AND the render. In any case, this has been happening consistently on several different clips in different sequences over a period of 1-2 months. I cant be more precise but it is definitely an annoying occurrence to say the least.

I have already exported all of these clips as independent Quicktime movies. They are only used once on the timeline. Any other suggestions anyone? I really hate to keep rendering the same thing over and over again.

From my understanding, when the sequence settings are HDV (even with it set to render as PRORES) then the EXPORT TO QUICKTIME will create an HDV file. I want to create a PRORES file as the end result. I want to render everything once, in PRORES (to get the best quality possible) and export as a PRORES quicktime. Everything I have read on the forum indicates that this is the way to do it, but nobody indicated the problem I speak of.

July 24, 2006 at 6:48 pm in reply to: Excess Chroma, Broadcast Safe Filter & the VectorscopeIve delivered almost 50 one-hour HD docs for broadcast and always throw the BS Safe filter on a final nest of the entire sequence…never shot by shot…I’ve set it up to clamp above 100 and start at 90….I’m only chiming in here to say what has been acceptable for us and wouldnt want to have to do it shot by shot….I guess it depends on how strict the receiving party is…
