I’m having the exact same issue. I really like AME for a few things and it seems a whole lot faster than Compressor for h.264 stuff – but images are dark and flat.

Hey Matthew – thanks for checking back. Yes, I do have two graphics cards in my Mac Pro. I had to with the two 24″ Apple displays.

What I downloaded from Toolfarm was ChromaKeyUnit605. I just uninstalled that and went to the Boris website and downloaded from there – says ChromaKeyUnit607 now. Installed and tried it and still crashed and got the same message about the Shaders plug-in.

I will send project file to tech support.
    Thanks again!

Thanks again Boris for you help.

The only version number that I can find is from the documentation from the download and it is 6.0.1. I downloaded the trail from Toolfarm – not sure if that matters.

To send project file, just send xyz.fcp? No other files?

    Thanks again!

    Mr. Yamnitsky,

Thank you so much for your response. I eagerly downloaded the update to FCP on my PowerMac running Leopard and when I double-click a clip that has the plug-in utilized, I get the spinning wheel and it crashed. Again, the message I get is….”The application Final Cut Pro quit unexpectanlty. The proble, may have been caused by the Boris Continuum Shaders plug-in.”

Any other suggestions? – I will also apply the update on my laptop running Snow Leopard – however the 14-day trial is over so I’m not sure how much I will be able to test – furthermore – I wasn’t getting that message after the crashes on the laptop running Snow Leopard – but I would get intermediate crashes with no explanation.

    Hello Mr. Yamnitsky,

I downloaded the 14-day free trail and ABSOLUTELY LOVE the chroma key application (ChromaKey Studio Unit); however, it is crashing Final Cut. I am running Leopard on my desktop and can’t use the plug-in at all. Downloaded it on my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard and have constant crashes throughout my work day – I am saving after every major edit because it crashes at different times when doing different edits. Compressor will not work at all.

Tech support said to use the other chroma key unit that was included because of OPEN GL something – but it does not even come close to what Chroma Studio does.

The error message I get when it crashes on my desktop is that Final Cut thinks that Borius Continuum Shaders is causing the problem (not really sure what that is besides another plug-in that was in the trial). The Shaders title of this plug-in also pops up on my desktop when launching FCP.

Has there been any update so that this plug-in works with Final Cut?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Have approval to buy this but it has to work for me.

    Hey Stuart,

I was wondering if you were ever able to get any resolution on the Chroma Studio filter. I LOVE the trial that I used; however, I am having the same issues as you. I was able to get it to work on my MacBook Pro but had to constantly save my work every 2 to 3 minutes because it would crash. The desktop (MacPro) won’t even open the clip with the filter on it without crashing.

    Any update would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

Yup – tried it and still crashes when you double-click on the clip with the chroma key filter on it.

Really stinks – it’s an awesome keyer. Do you use any keyers in your work that you could recommend?

    Thanks for your response!

I just shot our first footage with green screen and the 150. This was probably the best key I have done. I had been shooting with a PD150 and minimal lights. More professional lighting to get a better coverage on the 12×10 green screen and the fact that the talent could get further away from the green screen, while also being well lit, made the key a breeze. I use DVMatte (from DVGarage) plug-in in Final Cut, but interested in playing with AE (just got it too).

I am new to this camera and have some things to learn – stay in touch!
