I purchased CHV’s Morphing FX plug-in a while ago for it’s morphing capabilities. It comes with two plug-ins, Morph & Deform. I really wanted to put movement on the boy and was thinking about how I could do it. Then it came to me…use the Deform plug-in. Worked great and I think it turned out awesome.

Ah, I see what you mean by it always being in the center. Here is the work around:

If your clip fits the full screen then apply the Displace filter to the clip…other wise to the group that holds the clip. Create a new group. Apply your shockwave. Then move it to where you want it and scale it. As you now it will still place it in the center so here is the work around. If it is on the left create a shape on the right, make sure that shape’s color is black so it will not effect the image. Drag the group that holds the shockwave and the shape into the Displace Filters Map Image. Last, Make sure the group with the shockwave has the Fixed Resolution box checked and then adjust the Fixed Width and Height so it works.

I really like Pro Animator FX and it will give it a nice look with the lighting built into the plug-in and you can add a little reflective texture that will give it an even cooler look. Best of luck.

Re-watch the tutorial. You can have the displacement start wherever the “Map Image” is if you don’t apply the Displace filter directly to the clip. I show a work around so I could have my reflection which is not dead center getting distorted. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Another 3D plug-in is Zaxweks. You would need the Pro Animator FX, which they offer a free trial. With a 3D plug-in you will get nice lighting on the object that will make it look much better…however, for a daughters soccer video I would stick with what is cheapest and easiest.
