It is hard to find good talent to voice your video for $250. As mentioned, if you want a video with a bunch of pre-built elements and not a lot of creative control then you can do down that road. I would look at samples of their work and make sure you are getting the level of work you want. Otherwise, it will cost a lot more once you get into the level of work where they custom draw the characters to your project. Here is a Whiteboard Animation I did that was custom created for the client and cost a lot more than $250.

Another vote for creative cloud. However, if you have never edited before it may not be the best solution. How much editing are you planning on doing?

Another vote for Adobe After Effects. If budget is a concern and you are on a Mac you can use Motion. But I feel After Effects is the industry standard for 2D motion graphics.

When I’m done with a project and have enough completed projects I back them up to an LTO tape. I’m on a mac so I use Neo Finder to make a record or every file on the tape. Then when someone says go and find the ACME Drill video I can type ACME Drill into NeoFinder and it will tell me what LTO tape it is on and then I’m off to the races…after I wait a while for the tape to transfer back to my hard drive.

Bob and Nathaniel, thanks for the help. I’m after the “no frills network shares”. Bob gave me a call and we got everything worked out. I’m excited to stop sharing hard drives and being on the QNAP.
