Well, thanks for the effort. I’ve been doing some more intense testing of this specific crash and it’s less consistent than I thought it was, but it’s still more likely to crash than not. I keep feeling like there’s some underlying reason for all these crashes, glow effect or otherwise, that is easily fixed.

My overall crash frequency did not go down after the latest update. If anything, it increased. As I understand, I’m not the only one with this problem. Vegas is a great program but something about this version is just off. Even if this specific crash is dealt with in the next update, there are still plenty of others. I often edit for contests in which speed editing is important and I can’t afford all of these crashes. If the next update doesn’t fix it I’m going to have to go back to 9.0 which is the last version I know works (I was slow and skipped 10. No idea how stable it is). I don’t want to do that because I really love the new features when they work. How often would you say updates come around?

Okay, I’ve upgraded from 12.3 to 12.4. I opened the project, opened the effects window for the clip then closed it, and the program crashed. I tried it both with GPU acceleration on and off. The only difference was that when it was off, it didn’t crash the first time I closed the window. But, it was just a fluke. I tried it again just to be sure, and it crashed the second time.

I actually have 12.3, but like I said I have GPU acceleration turned off. Also, I should mention that I’ve been using the glow effect in combination with masking. When I just use the effect by itself it doesn’t seem to cause a crash. But rather than focus on the effect I just want to know why this program is so unstable in general. If this keeps up I may just go back to 9 or 10.

I’ll upgrade to 12.4 and try turning on gpu acceleration again.

It happened when it was on also. There seems to be no difference.

Do you mean turn disable GPU accelerated processing off? Because, it’s already off.

This is the full contents of that log. The important part seems to be at the very end but I don’t know if some of the other information could tell you something about my system that could be helpful.

Are those last few messages talking about my video device? It’s an ATI Radeon HD 5700 series with version 8.950.0.0 drivers. According to the system requirements for the program that should be fine shouldn’t it?
