  • That’s what it appears to be. SVP13 played it smoothly and everything showed up fine. Time to upgrade. Thanks again for the help!

  • Got it thx!

  • QT version 7.7.5. SVPro9e. Had QT version 7.6 and it was doing it also. Wondering if a newer version of SVPro would fix the problem?

Appreciate the insight. is it wrong to assume that finished rendered files will improve simply by upgrading?

At the risk of being annoying here, can I ask one more question?

I’m curious if the “project properties” effect the final render. In other words for the fields marked “pixel format”, there is an option for 8bit, 32-bit (video levels), 32-bit (full range). Also right below that there is a “compositing gamma” field with an option to choose 2.222 (video). I definitely see a color/quality difference when I select these different settings for the project. However, are these the correct settings? Or do they have an impact on the final render or are they simply for viewing within Vegas?

    Thanks again..

    Ok cool thx.

I downloaded the Avid DNxHD codec, unzipped and installed it. Yet didn’t see it as an option when I went to render in quicktime (.mov) format. Is there something else I need to do for vegas to recognize it?

Ok cool, think I’m starting to get it. I’m ultimately starting to do some video marketing for some friends and want to put some nice looking stuff on their website home pages. It will obviously get uploaded to Youtube or Vimeo.

That said, sounds like your suggestion there is different rendering settings for putting stuff on the web? Also, you mentioned that HDV is 4:2:0…what can I use that is 4:2:2 like my camera?

And do the “project settings” matter in the final delivery? Or does the render simply override those settings?

    Thanks!!!

Ok. Here is my basic process.

I import video files from cf card via usb cable provided. I open a new project with the following project settings.

“width: 1920 height: 1080.” “field order: upper field 1st.” “pixel aspect ratio: 1.0000 (square).” “output location: 0 deg (original).” “frame rate: 29.970 (NTSC).” “pixel format: 8 bit.” “full-resolution rendering quality: best.” “motion blur: Gaussian.” “deinterlace method: blend fields.” “adjust source media to better match project or render settings. box checked.”

When I go to render I typically use “Main concept MPEG-2”. “Template: HDV: 1080-60i.

Thanks again. Hopefully this answers your question.
