Thanks, it works. I now a have a new question.

After the execute command line in the script, I have actions that depend on the output of the .jsxbin file that was executed. When the .jsxbin file is executed, I’m guided via a UI that prompts me to set different parameters and validate actions one after the other. I would like to wait for this sequence of actions to be finished, before subsequent lines in my script are executed. How could I achieve this? Thanks.

It wouldn’t work with keyframes. But this part, animation, I want to do it manually, it will not be automatic.

The thing I want to avoid is having to create from scratch the 80 pins in the right positions every time I work on a new head shot. With the method cited above, I can even rename the pins “once and for all” on the reference layer.

It looks like there’s an interesting workaround to this: using a precomp and place the pins in their initial positions.

Then, load the footage of the new head shot in a layer below.

Then, set opacity to 20% or so, on the head shot with the pins on it, so that the new head shot appears in transparency.

Move the pins so that they fit on the new head. Of course the head shot with the pins looks distorted but nevermind.

Then, replace the head shot of the precomp with the new head shot: now the pins are placed exactly as wanted.

    I’ve tested it, it works.

This looks really interesting. I am going to try and test and will get back to you.

Filip, do you know a way to batch rename puppet pins? I get “Puppet Pin 1”, “Puppet Pin 2″… “Puppet Pin 80” ; and I would like to have “Face Outline 1”, “Face Outline 2″… “Face Outline 10”, “Mouth 1″… “Mouth 10” etc. I could do this directly in the comp, not via scripting. Sth like, select 10 layers, then do sth. If I can regroup them into subfolders, I would be as happy. Thanks.

    Hi Filip,

I am willing to try this, but first, what do you mean by: “Your reference image could be dots on the face with a number besides it” : how can I achieve this? How can I actually see the number beside the pin on the reference image?

    Thanks.

Anyone has an idea regarding this puppet tool / mesh – removal and repositioning, without applying distorsion while moving? Thanks!

Thanks a lot Filip for the expression you provided.

I had to make some adjustments so that it fits my project, but you pointed the right direction with nearkey / nextkey – yes.

    👍

I mean a function like this:

    f(x)= a if x is in [t1;t2]

    f(x)= b if x is in [t2;t3]

    etc.

    Hi Filip.

In fact what I’m trying to do is making lip sync looks like stop motion.

For this, I convert audio to keyframes, and then I apply an expression to a new layer so that it transforms the audio keyframe value to a step function.

Then I want to apply freeze frames every time the step value switches to another.

Transforming the step function to a series to a function that takes only 1 or 0 values is sth I should manage. But in fact if you could answer the question if the input function is a step function, it would be even better!

    Thanks in advance.
