Thanks Ed!
I did remove the firewire from the soundcard port as you suggested. This seems to be a deeper issue however.
Again, the exact error message occurs whether I hit play or use the ruler. The error message states:
“An Error occurred while starting playback. The device specified is in use.”
When you hit the ‘details’ tab the message you get reads:
“The playback device Microsoft Sound Mapper does not exist”
I found this thread discussing the same issue back in 2005:
https://www.indietalk.com/archive/index.php/t-6157.html
Unfortunately none of the recommendations within helped me isolate / resolve the issue.
here a recap of some of the steps I took:
– removed firewire from soundcard port
– Installed latest versions of DirectX and WM Player (for what it’s worth)
– Checked under ‘Prefences –> Audio Device’ in Vegas and made sure ‘MSFT Sound Mapper is selected. When I select my soundcard instead I get the same error message.
Any ideas? What am I missing?
Thanks again!!
