thanks for replying that soon (and thanks for your MotionScript.com, which is my favourite resource to learn expressions and scripting). I’m not at home and I can’t check this right now, but you’re probably right.
getItemIndex(name) is a function which reads all the items in the project and returns the index of the item called as the “name” variable. I used another “for” cycle within the function and probably I called “i” the variable there, too.
I’ll check and let you know as soon as possible. In the meantime I would ask a couple of things more:
1. is there any other way to retrieve a certain comp’s or item’s index, knowing its name, than cycling within the entire items’ collection?
2. you said: “the value of i, which you haven’t delcared as a local variable”. How can I declare a variable as a local one?
