    If you’re hitting a 2gB limit and you have space available on your hard drive, check the format of that drive to make certain that it’s NTSF and not FAT32.

    The Athlon line isn’t as fast as the Pentium line with hyperthreading which would be preferred. On the other hand, Athlons are much cheaper.

    Aanarav;

    I’ve just searched Froogle to determine the cost of an Athlon 64 which would be in my price range and it looks as if the winner is the Athlon 64 3200+ which runs at 2.0 gHz although the 3000+ which runs at 1.8 gHz is significantly cheaper. In any event, a minimum of 1 gHz of RAM would complete my system.

    It seems that the greatest amount of time to develop a video is in the design and layout of the scenes. The rendering is such a small part of the overall time of a project that an overnight render is no great problem. One trick I’ve learned from Studio is to render small segments and then merge the segments to create a final product. Is this how one works in Premiere Pro?

    Thanks, Aanarav.

    I don’t think I understand your question. Are you asking about the specific motherboard and which AMD chip?

    If so, I was thinking of getting the ECS nForce3-A939 board. The model is the ECS nForce3-A939. I chose this board for cost and legacy reasons. I have many applications which run under Win98se and this board supports that OS. It also supports the Athlon 64.

    I haven’t decided which model to buy although I’d like to stay under $100 for the CPU while getting the best rendering speed possible. Fortunately, I have lots of patience for program operations which take a long time. There seems to be a lot of confusion about the Athlon 64 lines with many comments made about which design would be best – whatever that means. For me what would be best for the graphics aspect would be my prime consideration.

    Thanks;
