    Hey Mortimer,
Though I feel for you, it is good to know that the universe has not
singled me out as a loner in the Black Magic bad luck sweepstakes.
Tracked the problem down to my Multibridge & not my Decklink. My
Decklink records perfectly from a digital source. The Multibridge
however was giving me the splash screen with rock solid footage with
no dropout & good levels. Alas!, I have now bought a Multibridge
Extreme at the NOMINAL cost B&H charge for it and it works well. One
edit suite for the price of two! Free doorstop included. What a deal!
An insider from the agents here in South Africa told me that the
standard Multibridge is fraught with problems. They in fact won’t even
support it. Splash screens may be normal on dropout or may have a
solution in your edit capture preferences. So not good news I am
afraid if we do have the same sort of problem. If you are still in
warranty take it back as I don’t believe there is much hope of a
    solution for us.
    Much luck
    Matthew

    Thanks Maverick,
I think my problem must be something else.
So in spite of your generous efforts I am no better off.
Tell my wife I love her, and my son to stay away from lose women, drugs, and account execs (not strictly in that order)

    Hey Maverick,
Searching for a solution to my Multibridge/Decklink HD problem i noticed your e-mail.
Apart from driver issues I am getting a sporadic “No Video Input” screen glitch when trying to digitise.
Wonder if this is the same as your “Frame dropping issue”? If so have you found a solution?
To prevent me taking my own life please provide a quick solution.

    Many thanks Splatt

I realise that you are looking at a dif OS and BM option but I have been trying to run a Black Magic Multibridge and decklink setup on a Win platform with Prem Pro for over a year now and find it unusable. I need to reinstall the drivers every time start up, there are problems with audio driver install, Prem Pro drivers, It loses video input on capture of perfectly good source.
It is so bad that I have bought a cheap DV card with an S video input to capture off my Beta SP deck and take my final edit on a removable HD to a rented suite for playout.
I loved Speed Razor and realy miss my Video Toaster.
They were both faultless without needing a degree in computor sciences.
I feel I made a big mistake buying BlackMagic and would not like you to go through what I have.
    My advice is stay away!

I don’t think you need be so apologetic. I am having exactly the same problem using a professional Beta SP deck.It captures with dropped frames inserting a “No Video Input Blackmagic Design” screen, again most of them happen when the camera was physically moving. It has nothing to do with lost sync or low video levels as i watched my source tapes on a vectorscope when i RENTED an alternative edit suite to do my editing (This suite had no problems capturing the footage). Fix the problem don’t change it!
My solution to the Declink problem is a cheap dv card with an S-Video input & no Audio, Crashing, Dropped Frame, Reinstall every time i reboot, Losing all my clients setbacks.

You are no bonehead, unless like me you have used your head against the wall to try and forget the money and time you have lost.
