Alan thanks for the response. I put a check mark on “use new method of loading AVIs” option. This solved the problem with frame server crashing PI. I’m glad for that.
But I’m still having the problem with the way the background video looks, it look as if it is more square then widescreen. As if the aspect ratio is wrong. The video I’m bringing in is 1440×1080. I have the preferences and project setting at 1440×1080, but it still looks like it is close to square. Is there something else I’m supposed to check off or on?
Also the video plays very, very slow. I opened a project I did with DV 720×480 and it played fine. Any suggestions. What is a good working workflow of 1440×1080 projects?

I have a softball video I would like to use PI on. But was shot in HDV
I used it with a Volleyball video and everyone really liked it. But was shot in DV

Well with all the testing I’ve done, all I can say is, Using the batchrendar script for HDV footage is broken. I can’t get any usable footage out of it.

Having problems with using Batch Render with regions. I have 24 clips with regions on the time line. When I use Batch Render with HDV 1080, render regions settings, most of the rendered clips come out ok, but some clips seem to be corrupted, will not play in the timeline, Vegas will close with an error. or the audio is cut in spots of the clip. Has anyone come across this? any workaround? I would like to have individual clips. I was able to render the project to HDV 1080 with regions markers; this will give me one big file with regions. I come out fine, no problems that I can see. But I would still like to have the individual files instead.

I noticed that when I use the batchrender script, the audio does not match the origenal audio, in one clip I noticed that the level is lower and no audio in some places. Has this happened to any one else?

February 7, 2008 at 8:19 pm in reply to: Interlaced DV to Progressive computer playback

I sat down last night and tried every way I know on how to render to progressive. No matter what I did the opening of the video still looked interlaced, but the rest of the video looked ok.
So I had a thought. The opening with the camera view flowing over the picture wall was done in After Effect CS3. I rendered the file out of AE as standard DV, avi , lower field first file. Brought that file into Vegas and compiled
the rest of the video. I checked the properties of the AE file against the other DV clips that I had and the match from what I can see, so I didn’t think it would be a problem.
So for a test I went back to AE and rendered the opening out as a progressive scan file. I then brought the clip back into Vegas and replaced the original opening lower field first file with the progressive scan file. I then rendered out of Vegas a progressive scan video like before and the video look great! I uploaded that version to the website.
SO the question is why Vegas wouldn’t render the AE file like the other DV clips that where in the timeline? Will have to look into this further.
So I just wanted to give an updates as to what I had found.

    Hi Terry,
The website makes a flash file for viewing with out downloading the original. The flash one they show is pretty decent and does not show the interlacing that I’m talking about. In order to see the original file you have to download it. The link will show about 30 seconds after the flash file starts playing. It took me a bit to figure that out when I first set up the account. Once you download it and play on your PC, with QuickTime as the default player since it is an mp4 file.
The interlacing is most noticeable there. VLC will play the file and it will look better with it, but it has built in deinterlacing.

PS – I’m sure your eyes are fine.

Aharon thanks for your response. I do appreciate it.
The problem I was having was doing my own project following the Shine Video Wall. I couldn’t get the camera to move correctly. So I spent the weekend following another tutorial “Taking a wild 3D ride” by Bjorn Sjostrom, to get use to and learning to use the 3D camera. Following this tutorial helped me learn how to use the tool. I then used what I learned and was able to finish my version of the Shine Video Wall.
