Thanks, it was in fact merely a matter of trashing preferences.
I feel like a such a dunce because I was going to do that originally, did it all the time in OS9 and am well familiar with the fact that it’s a basic troubleshoot step to begin with. For some wierd reason guess I just thought it may have been something else.

thanks for the help, tried downloading a couple, actually what I meant was a FCP audio FX plugin that you just drag (or import) into the FCP plugins folder and ‘boom’ ya’ got it! Opposed to learning any new software or functions or anything.
