September 8, 2011 at 10:07 pm in reply to: Making the switch to Avid Media Composer or Adobe Premiere Pro?Hello Cara,
I haven’t been using FCP for as long as you have and probably to not the same extent as you have as I am not an editor but a director BUT I love to do my off-lines and I am a mac lover. I am troubled with what happened to FCPX and realise that the pros are leaving FCP as Apple is reaching to a different target 🙁 Today, after reading people that replied to you and mac rumor and also another guy that had good things to say about both Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere and that was very specific about details, I have downloaded both trial versions preparing to make a decision and I am at lost. I knew all my short cuts and feel terrible about switching. I was hoping you could let me know how your transition is going and what you have discovered with one or the other software. I must say, to me it feels overwelming! I wander if a few pros will stick to FCP but probably it will be hard to find people that can finish off my off lines without hassles…
Thanks!

April 9, 2008 at 6:39 pm in reply to: reconnect media to footage captured with “capture now”Hi Sean and whom ever could help
I have recaptured all footage using XDcam transfer so my new clips are the exact length of the takes. The first time I captured I used “capture now” for a length of about 10min. per clip. Now that I have my new footage, I tried highlighting an old clip and pressed “reconnect media” and I had to locate it myself in the folder that has my new footage BUT I new that that exact clip was clip #43 but I was hoping not to have to choose the exact clip for each media to reconnect. Can I just chose the folder and it will find it’s appropriate clip? I tried entering the correct folder but that seamed not to work. I have 10 off-line clips and I must have 300 new ones so you see my dilemma…
Hope to have an answer

If you need screen capture to understand, let me know, I will gladly supply you with it 🙂 -
I think I will trye what Burt suggested as I want to have as much of the puppet as possible. I shot it this way to have as much as their body as possible and the puppetteer could only reach so high. Thanks very much everyone, I am trying this as of Thursday full-time until I finish the whole project.
If ever you have more precision, let me know as it will be crucial for me (a new user to motion) I will learn only what is pertinent to my project.
Thanks again

Hi Noah,
Thanks for trying to respond. I have uploaded exemples of some frames. The puppeteer’s head is always present and a pro at apple suggested mition tracking and matting but the way he said it, I could read about it everywhere… I would love to learn how to do this instead of paying someone drawinf each frame in after effects.
I appreciate very much the time your taking to answer me 🙂

Yes it is the XDcam and with FCP 6 I can transfer files to their original captured quality… which is what I want. Yes capture now files have time code. I will have the deck Tuesday so obviously I can’t try now but I am trying to understand and make sure I will know what to do. Do you mean that I create subclips that have the same TC ins and outs and so if I do reconnect they will go get my new captured clips instead of my bad-quality ones? Should I delete my bad-quality ones first so it does not go get those?
Thanks for taking the time!
