Hey John!
Since FCP is all i know and have been working with it for last 6 years, its a little hard to think outside of it. And not for a moment am I complaining that why is AVID not like FCP. Infact, I am trying my best to have a new approach when I edit on AVID.
As I said in my post, I have been watching some avid tutorials and reading whatever material i can lay my hands on. If you dont mind, can you recommend some good books?

Having you on this forum is such a reassurance because of your FCP background(Not to mention your ever-helping kind attitude).

So if i am getting this right, there is no wire-frame kind of thing in FCP, everything is controlled the way its done in motion’s tab in FCP, right? As far as effect handling is concerned, you mean i can’t turn off & on an effect to see the difference or you mean i can’t put 2 clips together to see the difference vis-a-vis.
And slugs or fillers(is that whey are called in Avid?). Why would you want to put a filter on a slug? Can 2 clips exist on timeline without a filler in between them? (or did FCPX borrow this stupid idea from AVID)
Another Question:
What happens when you want to use media from another project. Does it need to be ingested again (in a seperate folder) since avid follows file structure so rigidly?

I too would like to find a solution for video sync. I have been struggling since yesterday to sync two video clips together but encountering the same issues.
I have ripple’s training podcast but even that does not have any info on synchronization.

Never Mind.
I had renamed the project folder to Project X files. Which is why FCP X was refusing to recognize the project. The folder’s name has to be ‘FINAL CUT PROJECTS’

I use a glidecam HD-4000 with a Canon t3i and it works great. It is true however that focusing is a little difficult with a steadycam, but not totally impossible.
There are a couple ways you can handle this issue.
1. You could set your camera to a higher F Stop so that you get deep depth of field. That ways your subject wont be out of focus too often.
2. Plan your shot. By this i mean, you got to know how far is your subject and then maintain the distance between the camera & your subject.
But it all takes practice. However its not impossible.

When you make a new project, FCP X gives you an option to choose the project settings, either presets or custom. However keep in mind, in FCP X each project is merely a timeline and it stays independent of your event browser. So your event & project may have different settings.

How many technical questions have you posted about FCP X? Or how many have you been able to answer? Wait a minute… none! So you have only been giving opinions? And then you talk about stuff like troll and fud!
