Adding in synced video
Well, I just did this for the first time after some footage from another camera came to me from an event that I filmed.
Oh my, it’s a bit of a mess.
For a start I had my one camera clip already in the main story line with motion graphics intro finely placed etc. I copied my project before I started and then attempted all sorts of things to try to get the second clip to sync on audio into the compound clip I made from the already inserted one. No dice, I couldn’t find any way of doing it.
In the end I had to select both clips in the event browser, synchronise them there to make a compound clip, blow away my original clip which took the motion video off too, which I then had to re attach.
Then into adjusting the compound clip for the different angles.
Firstly I wanted to colour match. Seemingly no way to match the colours between the clips inside the compound clip. I finally achieved what I was after by disabling the clip with the right colour (which was on top), selecting the one underneath and matching against the right colour clip from the event window (couldn’t do it within the project).
Then I applied stabilisation to the new clip… and I got a clip that was completely black from end to end. Having previously had a clip invert when adding stabilisation I tried the thing that flipped it around – sure enough moving the trim point at one end caused the thing to reappear with the stabilisation.
Then finally into cutting between the shots. I gave up on trying to get cross dissolves to work and ended up manually automating the transparency.
I just feel like I’m working against the app somehow to get what I want out of it.
