Well, if the corner pin seems to function not-so-well, you could try the transform option, or something like that, at least. But if the track went well in mocha but showsmup weird in AE, then it might be the corner pin option, so try messing with the options. As far as the camera solve goes, it could be that you didn’t parent the trafk to a null or something? I don’t have all the info so I can’t exactly help..

Um, I’m not exactly sure what you’re really going after here. Could you post a link to the 2 footage files? We seem to be a bit lost. 🙂

Yeah, I noticed that too when Imfirst upgraded to CC 2015. I just double-clicked on the line of the mask, which allowed me to change the size etc. but I think I just clicked inside the mask I had drawn or something to freely move it.

Oh no, I didn’t actually mran this effect isn’t possible, I’m just saying that without the face tracker, you’ll just end up doing a little bit more work. But I was thinking, you already made a mask with a shape layer, you could do a track matter or something, or you could take the image of the face and mask it out around the dog’s face, track it, and you might have to use the puppet tool to maybe wrap the face around the dog’s face, just so it sits nicely. Hopefully you kind of see where I’m coming from….

Oh, well that kinda sucks. Apart from that, I’m going to assume there are ways to do this without CC 2015, but you’re also doing this on a dog’s face, which means it’s not a human face and it might be harder for some program to recognize that. Right now, mthe only other option I see is to go with CGI, or using a seperate program just for this effect.

Well, right now the easiest option looks to be to re-shoot the footage and fixing the talent’s hair in a way that doesn’t affect the key, or if you can’t do that, try making a garbage matte etc. There are also plugins for keying too, like Red Giant’s, which might make the key easier and better.

Yes, is the footage moving or not? But I’ll gove you two different scenarios for it. If the footage is moving, your best bet is probably the corner pin tool and track the footage, especially if the tv appears to be curved or fish-eyed in the footage. Basically, just the track the footage onto the tv. If the footage is static, then it should be easy. Just place the footage onto your tv and scale it however need be to match the tv, and that really should be it. Also, this might be useful to you: https://youtu.be/AAXKfcy9NmQ

  • Well, possibly. But I still think that the camera tracker/motion tracker is probably best for this situation, considering that all you are trying to do is track 2D footage, I believe. If it doesn’t work, there’s still Mocha and Syntheyes and other tracking programs, so just give that a shot if it doesn’t work.

I don’t think this “face swap” effect you’re trying to do is as easy as you think, but nonetheless it can be done. Have you seen any face replacement tutorials yet? I think that’s what you’re trying to achieve there. I believe in most films and whatnot it’s mostly CGI, but it can be done without that too. These videos might get you started: https://youtu.be/jrW_V9gkgnI

Also if the face replacement or tracking doesn’t really work, you might want to try your hand at Mocha.
