    I finally figured out what I did wrong(or at least, what I think I did wrong) When I first made the guide layer, I converted the circles and the star to guides. And in doing that, they did not remain intact in the finished product, of course. I wasn’t thinking about that when I did it. So I went back and added the same elements of top of the guides in the guide layer and left them as objects. When I saved that, it all went to the new composition just fine. Now , i’m just fussing with After Effects, trying to figure out how to get it all just the way I want it, as the tutorial is honestly a little more advanced than my present skill, but that never stopped me before:) I will keep banging away at it until I have it just like I want it, then I’ll figure out how to apply that to a rectangle just larger than a banner ad in addition to the circle. All of this is for an interactive website menu interface I’m working on. The apertures will simply be a cover for the main animated menu and the rotating banner ad area. If anyone has any ideas for a really effective way to integrate all of that, let me know.
