Thank you for the detailed, and succinct inputs. This is very helpful.

I looked up HP’s Z800/Z820 and they look expensive. Based on the two links you you provided, DIY or building my own seems like the logical option both from cost and customization to exact components.

Though, going through the links, it looks like I would need
i) advanced understanding of computers (e.g. your comment about updating memory count in BIOS to stabilize the system)
ii) ability to assemble, each of these components from scratch.

Any advise on how one would go about getting exact, step-by-step instructions and seek help in case of issues that would address points i) and ii) above. I not in a hurry so can wait to order, spend time to understand and assemble and then test, tweak etc. but not sure about if I can do without a step-by-step guide.

It may not be entirely New Blue problem. The Vegas Pro 11 build is extremely buggy and unstable. There are multiple threads on the Sony forum with stability issue.

I have (for the 4th time), done a factory reset, updated all drivers including TI Catalyst 10.11 and did a fresh install without any Antivirus or other software on machine. This time, I did not install the New Blue Fx Titler at all. The Vegas Pro 11 still keeps crashing whenever I use any GPU plug-in. Once it crashes, it stops rendering as .mp4.

I have provided all the detaisl to the tech support team on the New Blue Fx team. New Blue Fx team, by the way has been very prompt with responses and acknowledging issues (with ATI driver) even on weekends. The Sony Guys have not responded since Thursday and not available even who have purchased their paid support services.

For now, I’m reverting back to Vegas HD Platinum 11 license I have till there is a new build of Vegas Pro 11.

I have ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 with Catalyst 11.10 driver set.

I have done my 3rd factory re-set of my machine. This time render as .mp4 worked for a few times. As soon as I instlled New Blue Fx Titer Pro, it stopped workin. I unistalled the titler Pro and it started working on fresh projects again.

Looks like it’s the NewBlue Fx Titler Pro problem. I have logged a ticket with the new Blue folks as well.

Hmm.. I actually did a factory re-install (factory setting, format and partition drives, re-install OS, re-install all drivers, update GPU drivers and then install a fresh Vegas Pro II). It still keeps crashing and I still cannot render AVC/.mp4 files.

I have a similar problem. Have the latest built of Vegas Pro 11 and it keeps crashing. A few times when the software works, it cannot render in MainConcept AVC (and all .mp4 output options). Gives an error with the message, “The Reason for the error could not be determined’. I have tried disabling GPU option, render with CPU only, multiple system re-boots etc.

I have posted a tech support request. I get this message, “Due to Popularity of Vegas Pro 11, there will be a delayed response”. I feel, it should say “due to the buggy software and deluge of support request, there will be delay in response.” 🙂
