October 11, 2011 at 9:18 pm in reply to: How to import SynthEYES Stabilization footage into AE CS5?Basically, I am not going to be tracking any 3D elements onto the footage… I only want to stabilize the footage. The footage was shot on a GoPro HD attached to a quadrocopter and is very shaky especially when it was hovering. The shot I need to stabilize is the top of a historic building in Salt Lake City.
So I have used the auto track feature in SynthEyes but I have not found any other resources that will help me render out a stabilized shot or at least export the tracking data to AE so that I can stabilize it and render it out from there.
Thanks for the help!

I have used SynthEyes to stabilize an aerial video taken from quadricopter. I exported the 3-D info from Syntheyes as a .ma (Maya) file. I then imported the .ma file into AE, re-imported the original footage, interpreted the original footage to make sure the frame rate and pixel aspect are correct, then dragged the original footage onto the top layer.
According to the Syntheyes instructions, this is all I have to do, but the shot is not stabilized in AE. What I have is the original footage layer, then 180 null 3-D layers with the tracking info, and a camera layer.
How do I get the original footage layer to pickup the null layers below with the tracker data to stabilize the shot?
I have already viewed all of the the tutorials available on the SynthEyes site and I have not found any answers or help…. Thank you!

October 21, 2010 at 4:59 pm in reply to: Canon 60D Audio Levels constant HISS! How to eliminate background hiss.It is not the microphone. I have tried it in other recording devices and the signal is clear (using the same cabels). I want to know how other people have dealt with the poor audio quality on the canon DSLRs. I have a small budget and it is easier for me to record both audio and video on a single device. Thanks for the tips though, I’ll keep working it from my side.

What OS do you run? Also are you running a 32 or 64bit system? If you have a multi-core processor ensure that multiprocessing it enabled under the AE CS4 preferences.

June 25, 2010 at 3:22 pm in reply to: How do I render a master composition in a render queue and switch out different layers? Thanks for the advice Walter. I am doing some promos for a local tv station. The reason there are so many different videos that need to be placed in the same project or Master comp is that my clients require multiple versions of different lengths. They want 20+ 5sec, 20-10sec, 10-20sec…etc. If I made multiple file versions of each different “version” it would quickly increase the amount of files that I would have to deal with. As I have it now I just wanted to be sure if there was a quicker way or if I was doing it the quickest for the way that I set things up…
Thanks for your help… please continue!

June 25, 2010 at 5:58 am in reply to: How do I render a master composition in a render queue and switch out different layers? That would work, but for my situation that wouldn’t be ideal… you see I am using a MASTER comp. that has 2-3 precomps inside it. Those precomps called “drop 1 & 2 (respectively)” each have 20 different video clips within them. So, for example, I currently have to pick video clip #5 from Drop Spot precomp 1 and then go to Drop spot #2 and pick video clip #5 as well. Then i go back to the Master comp/template and those videos show up in the placement where I want them to be. I then have to render out those settings and clip picks at that time.
I have tried making a clip selection and then adding that “version” of the master comp to the render queue. I would then go back and choose another set of video clips from the precomps and then add what I thought would be a new master comp. “version”. I have found that when I render the whole render queue… it renders all of the videos but it renders them all the same because at that point whatever settings/clips I have selected in the compositions… that is what it renders at that time….
I hope that this clarifies my issue. Thank you!
