[David Roche] “Avid Media Composer is a great editor and many of us will move that way and really like it”

Let’s not get too carried away. After working on FCP, AVID is still pretty horrible to use, they loathe their customers even more than Apple and always have done, and lots of the “cool new stuff” like AMA simply doesn’t work remotely reliably. I’ve got it in my toolbag already but I’ll still be using FCP7 for as long as I can as my first port of call.

  • [Aindreas Gallagher] “Dear Melanie”

Sorry to correct you Aindreas, but I rather feel that should be spelt “Melanie” 😉

  • [Jacob Goodnight] “How do you so harshly blast a podcast that is over an hour and a half long after listening to only 20 mins. of it? “

I think the clue is in the name of the poster (Melanie Brand) – I could be wrong but I sense that this person might not have the appropriate bona fides!

  • Whoa, “Melanie Brand” – lighten up! These guys, whatever you think of their opinions, do know quite a a bit about what they’re talking about and make a number of interesting points, even though there are so obvious errors which are largely down to how little time they had to assess the app.

But thanks for the tip about the App Store – why did I know that you would know that?!

  • [Russell Lasson] “Make projects actual projects instead of sequences”

Don’t disagree with points 2 and 3 but I wonder if you aren’t being a bit hasty in condemning the media management structure at this early stage? It might well turn out to be more powerful and flexible than it at first appears …

But I could be completely wrong!

  • [Aindreas Gallagher] “FCP is gone”

I just love your posts – even when I disagree with you, which in this case I fear is not a great deal!

And there was you such a big fan before it was ever released – I really feel for you, genuinely!

[Matt Callac] “Start a thread and bitch, or join another bitching thread. Don’t troll legitimate threads.”

Absolutely, Matt – but look how few non-bitching threads there are and if they do exist how quickly they disappear down the pile!

    New forum now, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

I can’t help thinking that there are reasonably intelligent answers to some at least of the panic questions …

[Aindreas Gallagher] “I shouldn’t say sociopaths, but for apple to just grin and stick the knife in so far to the creative community .. it’s mindboggling.”

No but seriously Aindreas, you love it really, don’t you?!

Great post, whether you agree with it or not!

June 22, 2011 at 3:26 pm in reply to: One Sequence Per Project?

[Stephan Walfridsson] “Not saying that it can’t be done.”

You could be right – but it’s not remotely clear what you’re saying “can’t be done” so it’s hard to know where to look for the solution!
