    Hi Frances.
setup you have selected looks fine. ( Assuming you are working in PAL format).

DV, miniDV, DVCAM are all the same once in your computer. Will be the same file sizes. Just that DVCAM runs the tape quicker through the camera for improved reliability.

File size looks appropriate for 40 min DVCAM.
Free Data Rate/ file size calculator widgit is avaliable from http://www.digital-heaven.co.uk
Or if you are not using Tiger and can’t install widgets I believe AJA have a similar standalone program free from their website.

    Good luck

    OK Eric here goes.
When I go to the COW website the top title etc loads straight away, then nothing for up to 5 mins then the rest of the page loads. Same for individual forums, the top left green box loads straight away then 5 minutes wait till rest of page loads eventually. Phil’s advice above of disabling javascript works and site then works at normal speed minus some of the adverts. Running Safari 2.0.4 on OSX 10.4.8
    Hope this info is useful.

I’m using DSR 11 in PAL land ( well Scotland!) and no problems on G5 FCP v5.1.2
Should work OK on iMac too.
USB drives may cause you headaches if you use them as media drives but thats another story and nothign to do with Firewire decks.

I’m having the same problem. In the UK using NTL. Will pass on the details you suggested and we’ll see if anyone listens! Anyone else struggling in UK on NTL or other ISPs?
