Thanks for the info. Apparently MS must have known there was a problem as well because a new XP update came in two days ago and since its installation all the problems have stopped and we’re back to normal on boot up. The sound issue is still there but all I have to do is close Premiere and re-open it and it works fine. Solving one problem at a time…

Thanks for the info Glenn. The CS3 and the upgrade were bought directly from Adobe so I am hoping this is not the problem. The system has been running well for a few months – this problem just started a few days ago (coincidentally with an XP update) so I think I will need to dig a bit more. I think an email to Adobe tech support may be in order…

Thanks! It’s a Raid 5, actually and We will check on the controller card or MoBo controller – but this helps a lot!

Have you looked into Matrox Axio? Their HD/SD package appears to have all the bells and whistles.

Thanks Chris. That was brilliant. Made a new project and imported as you suggested and the old project runs fine and all hthe assets were imported with the timeline – so I have some reconstruction to do (separate the track elements that are now premixed in a submix) but it sure makes it easier than going back to an auto-save. Thanks for the excellent suggestion!

Not too sure how you are set up – and I am new at APP – but I am doing a big multi media input project and was abe to very successfully capture DVD video by using an external DVD player and inputing through S-video. If you are capturing from a MiniDV or DVCAM deck you can S-Video into the deck and use it as a pass thru to capture. Hope this is what you were looking for.
