Is this output format, or input footage format?
none if its an input format…
if output… it depends on what you need to do with it… for example I use H.264 all the time for demos and streaming HD… but if your doing say animation performance review H.264 is not so good with frame blending and all… you’d want something like animation or Pixelet… now if were talking DVD then is it HD or not MPEG2 or H.264, if web I would say hands down H.264 best compression to quality ratio if you know what your doing…

Yes but USB2 does work as a scratch disk, I have done that on laptops before with only 1 FW port…

The question is what is the region code, if you can find that out you should be able to play it if the code is 1 then no problem anything else you’ll have to change your region code…

Remember OSX allocates system resources as needed to keep your workflow running smoothly… If your not having problems ie slowups, I wouldn’t worry about it…

Personally if your only problem is that you can’t get info on your HD, i’d leave it its not a big deal unless there is something you need in that get info panel…
but as far as I know all of that stuff can be looked at in the terminal, and other places without using the get info panel at all…
I’ve already told you the two easiest ways to get your HD icon to stay… setting your desktop to snap to grid and keep arranged by name…
try booting off you install disc verify the disc, not permissions… run plutil on your user library prefs folder, empty your cache folder in your library… or just reinstall… that will fix it…Simon Carlson-Thies

Oh thats what your trying to change… If I recall that requires more then get info and copy and paste, I don’t think a reinstall is the problem…

did you already try the other options?
its a hidden file that should make you desktop settings stick, these files are in each folder desktop included… I would try the other options first, and then use sherlock to drag it to the trash, and see if that works, don’t delete it until you know it solves the problem…

Well you picked a tough thing to do… in high end productions they use tracking markers and special software to compiste the tracks to derive the camera movement. In order to do this you really should use a motion control rig such that you can replicate the move over and over for various elements. Also it allows you to build a replica in the computer and get exact matches without green screen tracking markers… but if you can’t do that then its off to buy some tracking markers, and either find some software, or have fun doing the math…
