FCP-3 Using a G-4, at 733 Mhz, with 768 mb SDRAM, on MAC OS 9.2, FCP3.0.4,
QT 6.0.3, Carbon Lib 1.6
The reason I was interested in keeping my FCP-3 on OS-9 running, is because
in it somewhere is the proper firewire protocol for my Panasonic DMR ES15 DVD recorder. I was able to get great (fairly uncompressed) video directly onto a DVD in real time. The only rendering was for the graphics, composites and tweeked clips (within the FCP timeline). Because of too many renders in my last project, FCP3 in OS-9… crashed with Errors Type 2 and 3. The project would not open again.
So, I took Zane’s advice from Creative Cow and loaded FCP-3 into my OSX.2.8 and now FCP-3 won’t work in OS-9 anymore, because it needs OSX-1.1 which now has been changed to OS 10.2.8. OS 10-1.1 is gone.
The project was retrieved in OS 10, but no output with firewire to anything but the camera (Sony PD-150). That works, but is hard on the Camera.
That magic firewire protocal extension is not there anymore either. I am guessing the thing to do is to find the Panasonic protocol for firewire that works with the DMR ES15 DVD recorder and OSX 2.8.
Does anyone know where/how I can find one? Am I on the right track?
I really don’t like the noisy artifacts that appear in the video with burning. All the above is the same when using FCP-4 on OSX-3.1) on my other computer too.
I need firewire protocol that talks to the DMR ES15 from OS 10.2.8.
I should post this as a new problem.
Thanks,
Sid
