Mocha is awesome! It’s saved me more than a few times in the past. As Dave suggests, Roto Bush can also be pretty effective on footage like this. Both tools take a bit of patience up front, but you really can realize a huge time savings on the back end. Just out of curiosity, what camera was this shot on? Also, is it possible to see a full resolution frame?

Mocha AE would be my first thought. Roto isn’t fun by any means, but Mocha can take some of the pain out of it. 🙂

Sorry for coming in so late on this. But are you talking about channels from an OpenEXR file? I thought AE accessed .EXR channels in 32bit… am I wrong?

Funny, I remember wondering why Avid wasn’t trying to woo PPro users with inexpensive cross grades as well as FCP7 refugees. It will be interesting to see if they make more of an effort after PPro Next is released.

FWIW, I’ve been on Windows 8 for a few months now, and I haven’t had any issues with plugins in AE. I use the Trapcode and Magic Bullet Suites on my Win8 machine.

Bernhard”Yes, but you still have to explicitly “tell” the software what to track, what to ignore and what kind of transforms to apply to the data. I’m sure you can let the application analyze whole clips in the background, but it doesn’t seem as useful or as efficient for 2D tracking. Since you would have to throw out so much data anyway.

Interesting thought, is there a way to get the tracking data out of Slice X? It seems like Motion could really benefit from something like that.
