    Finally, at long last. This:
    https://library.creativecow.net/articles/ross_shane/tapeless-workflow_fcp-7/video-tutorial

worked! I was trying to use footage I’d imported via iPhoto (go ahead, groan). But I used a card scanner and followed Shane’s above tutorial and I finally now have footage I can work with.

Thank you! I didn’t realize the complexities of tapeless workflow, as I’m new to it. Thanks so much, all.

So I’ve seen all sorts of complaining on here about people asking stupid questions, but saying “we blogged about it somewhere once” is a far less effective response than just providing a link that takes people to the answer they’re seeking that you happen to know already exists somewhere out there on the interweb.

I’ve been googling for a definitive solution to my question “What is the currently endorsed workflow for getting Canon 7D footage into FCP 7.0.3” because everything I’ve read and tried hasn’t gotten me past stuttering playback in FCP. And I’ve been using FCP for 7 years. I am new to using DSLR for video, however.

We’re not all morons just because we’re not professional videographers. It’s literally not freakin’ intuitive and there are a lot of variables to tweak around with–none of which seem to make a lick of difference for me so far.

Yes, please position a sticky in a prominent place for all us idiots to stumble upon. Please also tag it and keyword it while you’re at it so that non-forum users will come to find out that it exists in the first place.

    Thanks, Steve.

Darn it anyway, I’m still getting stuttering clips. I’ve tried all the advice I’ve found so far on converting footage from H.264 to FCP 7.0.3 and it is still not working. I’m feeling more than frustrated at this point. 🙁

I don’t understand why this should be SUCH an issue. I’ve worked with FCP for years, but this is my first DSLR/vid experience.

Hi Steve, I’m struggling with the same. Care to share what the fix was that you found?

    Thanks.
