What model? What format does it shoot? Specifics are needed for proper advice.

And 4K? And you want to cut full/high resolution? 200 hours of UHD 2398 DNxHR SQ is about 42TB of footage. So I suggest getting a 64TB drive, something that G-TECH does offer. (you will need space to render, as well as 15-20% empty for optimal performance).
Computer…top of the line iMac will work for this, and is fine for 4K and not too expensive. Or you can get the MacPro Trashcan…more expensive as it has better processors, but it all depends on your budget. And Go with Avid MC 8.8.x. 8.9 is pretty new but 8.8.x seems solid.

Manually, yes. Automatically, no. MANUALLY, you can add a clip color to clips you cut into your sequence. There is no automatic way to label what is used and what isn’t

The fact that Avid is doing things like this is HUGE. The fact that we get a release every month is big. 12-14 years ago we’d get a release every 2 years, and HOPED it might have something we wanted, and needed. We’d call for tech support and they might call us back in two days if they felt like it. This was when they were the only game in town. FCP came along and showed that it was capable of doing what needed to be done….VERY cheaply…and this took a huge chunk of Avid’s market share…and took them down a peg. NOW they listen.
It’s a delight to be on the beta team, say “Hey, it would be very helpful if we had this.” And then two versions later, there it is. Yes, they did Audio Ducking with is something I’m not sure anyone asked for…well, probably some lazy editor who doesn’t like to audio mix said “Man, I wish this was automated,” and so they did it. We ask for that stupid message about saving locked bins to go away (pops up in an autosave, and asks to save every single locked bin…when you have 12 of those, it’s a show stopper)…they gave us the option to turn that off. HUGE.
They are listening, and because of that, we are demanding. And I’m SURE there are many things you’d like FCP-X to do, or some feature you wish it had. But is there a similar way to let Apple know this? Adobe sure has a way for users to let them know what they want.

Besides these, I’m seeing more and more job postings for TV series that need people with Premiere Pro experience. Looks like it is replacing FCP 7 in many places.

Yes, 1440×1080 doesn’t match the project settings, which at 1920×1080. Try ProRes or DNxHD, not AVCIntra.

Are you more comfortable with a Mac or a PC? VERY long form? How much footage? Shot with what camera? Willing to do offline/online workflow, or want to work full resolution?

The “S” means SPATIAL, meaning the clip is a different size than the project. It hasn’t been converted…well, OK, it has…it’s been resized to fill the screen. But I’m telling you, this clip needs to be converted BEFORE you AMA link to it and use it. It’s compression is really taxing the system.

Because PPro doesn’t show interlacing properly, it will look bad. ONLY playing this out via video IO to a TV or monitor designed to play back interlaced will show you what it really looks like. And this can’t be a computer display connected via IO…only a TV. Computer displays do not show interlacing properly.

Because now the display is viewing footage it’s good at viewing. But notice the skipping of frames, or, rather, repeating of frames. Because 6 new frames were made to go from 24 to 30.
