October 14, 2017 at 1:17 amBesides these, I’m seeing more and more job postings for TV series that need people with Premiere Pro experience. Looks like it is replacing FCP 7 in many places.

A natural progression. Plus there are many younger editors who have never cut with anything other than FCP “legacy”. So going to Premiere makes more sense than going to Avid or Apple, just to match your normal talent pool.

The Fincher piece clearly shows a post production environment surviving just fine without Avid.
I Hate Television. I Hate It As Much As Peanuts. But I Can’t Stop Eating Peanuts.

An interesting note is that many of the editors he’s used over the years have never cut on Avid. Or if so, only very early on in their careers. Of course, it works both ways. I know one fairly prominently editor who dearly wanted to work on “House of Cards”, but didn’t because it was all FCP7. He wasn’t comfortable enough with it to want to bluff his way in.
