In the lower left of the timeline, there’s a box that has colors…split YELLOW/GREEN means low res playback. Click on that to switch to GREEN, full res playback. CLick again, and it’ll go to GREEN with a 10 in it, for 10 bit playback.

The DX is a good HD solution only. For 4K, Avid has the Avid DNxIO…which is basically the BlackMagic UltraStudio Extreme 4K, only more expensive. So yes, what you have will work fine with Avid and your setup.

Well, how will be mix be done? Not sure that’s even relevant question though. I import. And most of the time I export an AAF to the audio mix and they use that audio as final. Audio conversion is pretty much lossless, as audio doesn’t take up much space. BUT, some places like to CONFORM with the masters, so you give them ALL of the masters, and an AAF, so they link to the masters. But that shouldn’t change how you import audio. I simply import. I only AMA video

What are the specs of your computer? hardware? OS version? (basically, does it have what is needed to run RESOLVE)
What are the specs of the footage? codec? SD and HD are just frame sizes…need things like MP4, ProRes QT, AVI, H.264…stuff like that. And frame rate.
what are your project settings?

Deinterlace the footage. Not sure what built in plugins FCP has for that, but Nattress had a good one called SMART DEINTERLACER. There were many many plugins that did this, but unless you got them when FCP 7 was active, you can’t get them.

What OS are you running?

March 25, 2018 at 10:39 pm in reply to: ProRes in fcp7 converted to H264 via Compressor magically changes edit pointsWell, one thing, FCP 7 isn’t used by many people anymore. It was discontinued 8 years ago…so this particular forum isn’t viewed by many. Second, it’s the weekend and we tend to enjoy our days instead of try to avoid work by posting here. But there are a few of us here…
OK… details. Is the footage you are cutting ProRes? Or did you export to ProRes first, and then to H.264? Just want to know what your source footage is. How did you encode to H.264…what was the process? Is there a frame rate mismatch issue? Meaning, is your sequence one frame rate and the source clips another?

Avid knows that many MANY of it’s customers are “legacy” customers, meaning they won’t update past a certain version. (V6, v7). So, they will release bug fixes for those versions to keep them happy.
BTW…I cannot think of another company that does that.

I tested on my end…smaller Premiere Pro project, xported XML for FCP 7…imported that into Resolve 12.5…brought in the whole project, bins and all…and sequence.
