If you get a CODEC NOT FOUND missing hardware check ALL your images in Photoshop and make sure there are in a RGB color space NOT CYMK, LAB, OR GREYSCALE

1) Set a limit on Capture Now. Never have that box unchecked. Set it to 60 min if you want the whole tape.
2) Do not under any circumstances run any anti-virus/filesaver software. Including Norton and Virex. Sure, Apple doles out Virex for free, but FCP doesn’t cooperate with it very well.
If you absolutely feel you must keep Virex installed on your system then use Kevin’s script to shut it off before you use FCP:

4) Check the format of the drive you are capturing to. It should be Mas OS Extended, jornalling off. If it isn’t, copy your files from it and re-initialize it. If it is any other format, you will encounter problems. If not at first, then eventually.

Is this for broadcast?
I shudder at the thought of just dropping on a filter, rendering and calling it done.
Onlining and color correcting and prepping a show for online is not a simple “drag and drop” process.

Export EDL from FCP.
Open Cinema Tools. Click CANCEL when it asks to create a new database.
Go to FILE>EXPORT>CONVERTED EDL. Select 24fps from 30fps. Select your EDL and click OK.

I too cannot see it. I get some AOL Temp in the address bar and a blank page. And I have Windows media Player.
Any chance to get a quicktime version?

Export an EDL. Use Cinema tools to convert the EDL to a 29.97 frame rate. Give the newly converted EDL to the Symphony folks.
Before you do this, remove any filters or plugins from your footage. And your project can be cuts and dissolves only. Speed changes or any FCP transitions will not translate to the Avid Online.
Any reason you can’t online using FCP?

I would like to let others weigh in on this. I am not 100% about the pulldown removal later. Just what I was told from a few people. GOOD people, but let’s hear others thoughts.

The Standard preset should work. It converts the HD material to an SD MPEG 2.
So far I have compressed DVCPRO HD for the Web…haven’t tried DVD yes.

I assume nothing. Just double checking because often I forget the simpliest things.
From what I know, if your footage is 24p then it is best to capture with the Advanced Pulldown Removal from the start. For Reverse Telecining afterwards won’t realy do it as it is a different cadence than APR.
And if you shot 720p60, you really shouldn’t do the pulldown, as you shot 60i, not 24p. Although the Film Effects filters from nattress.com now come into play and can do wonders.

Did you capture using the ADVANCED PULLDOWN REMOVAL option? THAT is how you get your footage to 23.98.
