Resolve projects are buried in a database file. So what you need to do is select the project in the project list, and then right click and choose EXPORT, and then choose the export location. And then on the other computer, choose IMPORT by right clicking in the project list and import the project.

Yup…that’s what you do.

Or import the new project with a date, or version. And then delete the other when you see this one is fine.

Sorry, nothing you can do. The only processor upgrades are for the 2009-2012 machines. And graphics cards don’t speed anything up. The only thing you can get is more RAM, but that doesn’t make too much of a dent.

Well, if you have problematic clips, often that is faster than dealing with the skipping, and searching for answers.
And you can subclip after AMA and transcode only the subclips.

Only if you know what settings were used. Compressor cannot just look at a file and create a preset to match…sorry. What is the frame rate of the new files? That you can see in FCP. What is the frame size and frame rate. Interlacing, well, that you also see in FCP, or if you see lines when you play the clip in QT.

No. Because if thy converted it to HD 23.98 it’s different than HD 29.97. And was it converted to interlaced or progressive 29.97? I’d guess interlaced, as SD is interlaced, but I wouldn’t rely on my guess. ASK the people who did the conversion what they converted to. Also…is it full frame 1920×1080? So the image is squeezed? Or is it pillarboxed 1920×1080 (Black bars on the side)? or did they convert to 1440×1080? Many options.

Sorry, but that plugin will only work for the Mark II. Any newer camera will have an updated system, and would require an updated EOS Log and Transfer plugin. But since FCP 7 was discontinued 7 years ago, no further development on Log and Transfer plugins are being done. You’ll have to convert outside of FCP 7 first..with something like EditReady or Resolve.

Sorry, no. Resolve renders out everything as a QT movie, or other setting (Image sequence, DCP). If you send stills, you can’t get stills back. Best option is to color correct the stills in something like Photoshop and then only send QTs to Resolve.

Open the bin with the footage. In the lower right, make sure you choose MEDIA TOOL as the layout option of data. Now, in the column for DRIVE…is the drive that it shows it exisiting on, is that drive mounted?
In the MXF folder, in the Avid MediaFiles folder…are there any folders that have names as well as numbers? Or…to put ti this way, are there any folders that aren’t simply numbers? If there is a folder that has a number, but then letters, Avid won’t rebuild that data base and might lose the link. Remove any non-number symbol from those folders.
Also…is the Avid MediaFiles folder on the ROOT level of the hard drive? Meaning, not inside another folder? And the MXF folder is directly inside of that, right? Just making sure the file path is correct.

I will say that was my first experience (OK, second) when trying to use FCX….I opened a project with a LOT of media and it was as slow and stumbly as a drunk looking for a remote control. I couldn’t do anything…and really wondered about this “speed’ everyone was talking about. It was like this for the better part of a day.
I had the same experience with Premiere. I was handed a drive and opened it and it took pretty much all day to conform the audio, and trying to do anything was..well, that same drunk now trying to put on his shoes. All of those files were made on the original machine, but I was cutting from home, so it redid ALL of them.
And yes, Avid doesn’t do any of this…AMA link and nothing needs to be done. Even if it’s already transcoded, if you bring that media to another computer and open it…you have the media…there are no separate audio cache files or whatever other sidecar files…so it doesn’t do this again.
So yes, that did put a HUGE damper on my second FCX experience. That and…well, so many things, but I’m a track based guy…so I’m biased
