Which Nattress filter are you referring to Shane?

I used the Nattress Graeme G Film Converter to convert DVCPRO HD 108030p to ProRes HQ 1080p24. Looks great after ran some tests and tweeked the settings. If you download the manuals for that and Film Effects filter it’s pretty straight forward.

I have not yet tested this filter on interlaced material, ugh like the iPhone, a HD Flip Cam, and other consumer HD formats of the day.

    Hey Bryan,

I am the lead Asst Editor on a series shot in XDCAM EX HQ 23.98p. I have been reading and re-reading the forums on Creative Cow and getting myself quite confused.

Some say YES you can edit natively in XDCAM w QT Wrap with no problem. Others say NO convert it all to an intermediate co-dec like Pro Res Proxy which is not Long GOP and uses a lower data rate.

I am setting myself up for grief if I don’t convert the XDCAM EX to an intermediate co-dec like ProRes Proxy? Will the long GOP turn around and bite me in the end when I have 5 editors working off the same XDCAM EX media on a shared server? Here are the specs below.

    NLE: FCP 7
Shared Media Storage: Avid ISIS Client Manager
Camera Format: 90% XDCAM EX, 10% DVC PRO HD
Ingested XDCAM natively w QT wrap.
Sequence preset: ProRes Proxy 1080 23.98p
Est total footage: 600 hrs for 10 episodes
    CPU: G5 MacPro 2x3GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
    RAM: 10 GB 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM

    Thanks,
    Shane

  • So none of the above solved this problem. I even checked the sync btw UVW-1800 and the AJA IoLA. Here’s what has worked so far.

Instead of using Capture Now for an entire tape (not my idea by the way) I break the tape up into four clips of more or less equal length Log and then Batch Capture. Eureka! No more dropped seconds. At least this works on the BetaSP deck UVW-1880. Have yet to test on the DSR-1500.

    Hope this helps someone.

    Thanks again,
    Shane

March 7, 2007 at 7:24 pm in reply to: Finder Glitch

    Hi,

I have the same issue ctl+click/rt click with the Finder only. I’m using OS X 10.4.8 on Dual 2GHz PowerPC G5 processor. I have done the following with no success:

    -deleting Finder prefs
    -repairing disk permissions
    -creating a new user account
    -reinstalling the OS

In addition, the Finder buttons (view as icons, groups, list) and the color “dots” for labeling dissappear; the selection indicator in the sidebar goes black. Temporary solution it to relaunch finder but that only works for awhile. This only occurs in Finder.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Shane

Good point. I did hook up the HorITa BSG-50 looped through the AJA Io LA and terminated at UVW-1800. AJA shoAlas I am still getting these gaps of seconds. Tomorrow I will get a BNC terminator for the AJA and see if that resolves it.

    Thanks

My bang I have 2.5 GB of RAM, sorry it was late when I posted.

I am digitizing from one of two decks, either the UVW 1800 Beta SP or the DSR-1500 DVCAM, from a component signal. (FYI: When my client purchased the DSR-1500 the opted not get a firewire board. Now Sony no longer manufactures that part and no one even has it in b-stock.)

    Thanks,
    Shane
