  • Might be that you’ve not set pixel aspect to square.

Make sure you’ve got square pixels selected on a prores sequence, HD 1920×1080. It’s usually when you’ve got odd shaped pixels (DV, DV anamorphic) that text looks awful.

Also, make sure you use a nice font. Those which are too thin or too serif-y can look terrible.

  • There has been a colossal brainfart.

The MM project was already on my main edit drive and had been moved off my external. I’m pretty sure this is the first sign of my brain ceasing to function.

Thanks for all the attempts at helping; let’s put this one down to memory loss due to too much on my plate….

  • Yep, it’ a weird one. Nothing in the trash.
    I suspect it’s irresolvable, but anyway…

For the master exports, I just exported as sequence settings from FCP onto my external drive.

for the media managed project, I opened up media manager, selected the external drive as the destination, saved and recompressed to there.

Checked that they’d gone onto the drive in the facility – they had.

Checking back at home – they ain’t there.

Yeah, we use prores a lot… it comes back to FCP from color as that for a start. A lovely happy codec.

Excellent, I’ll check it out then.
Any FCP/Color workflow problems you know of?

    Thanks John.
    Yeah, 444 is probably a little excessive…
Any reason you’ve plumped for Panny over e.g. SOny’s 422 xdcam camera?
