Hi James –
I had the same thing happen to me. Was banging my head against the wall trying to hear audio, that I could see as a waveform, that never was on the camera file. Irritating FCPX does that. Luckily the crew recorded all audio to an outboard digital recorder. Not fun syncing, but at least it was available. Good luck.

Exactly. Doing work in Premiere recently was familiar and easy as was the “learning curve”. If ya know 7 or MC, then you pretty much know Premiere and vice-versa. For me, Media Composer is the most unfamiliar now, which is very odd to say as I spent years cutting on those systems. That said, IF a Media Composer job comes my way for any reason (and I haven’t seen freelance MC jobs out my way in over two years), I am sure I can easily get back into the swing.

Why have FCPX in it al all? I mean, I think Premiere is really a slow, old, poor product that seemingly has no hope of crawling out of it’s smoking crater of suck in this century (a tip of the cap to you, Aindreas! No pub involved.), so why argue that in an FCPX Discussion board? Let’s just call it “The Great Debate Forum”. Let’s not even limit the debate to NLE’s (which we rarely do).

Actually, I use Premiere for some clients and it doesn’t suck all that bad. Plus it’s slower, so on the by-the-hour jobs it can be more lucrative.

I heard that.
My 64 gig iPhone 5 64 “died”recently and I went to get a new phone for replacement. I don’t want the iPhone 6 as it’s a bit too bulky. Went to the Apple store for a 5s and lo and behold, they don’t sell the 5s in a 64gig size since the 6 came out. Plenty of 32 an d16’s but no 64. I was told if I want 64 gig I need to go to the 6. So I went with the 5s. Almost as bad as losing music is having to choose what music you want and what you can live without: “Live at Filmore East? Gotta have it. Quadraphenia….hmmmm…Jerry Lee…see ya…” And of course no photos.
C’mon, Neil Young, get Pono out there.
Side note: my daughter said she would take the old Iphone 5 and see if she could fix it. I chuckled and handed it over (you know, the “well dear old dad knows his stuff about this dear, but you can try. It’s a good lesson for you…”). She grabbed a toothpick and compressed air and pulled about a half a pound of pocket lint out of the charging slot and it worked like a charm. Should have given her the 5s but she has more than 32 gig of music…and so it goes.

I agree 100%. I was doing work in Premiere and really missed my “E” key. Great timesaver for assemblies as you can mark the in and out, hit “E” and you know the clip has been added to the end, no matter where the play head is.
