  • [Brian Schulz] ” open the event, which also works fine, but in the event, there are only some of the clips there, so nothing to highlight. but when I actually just open the folders with finder, all the clips are there.”

Instead of looking at the event, look under the Library folder or go to the smart collections folder and look under all video. My hunch says they are there.

I use external drives all the time and move them around. When I do that, however, I am sure to copy everything to the Library so there is just one “thing” to transfer, not video in external folders. Probably not the most space efficient way to do things, but it has worked for me for years. If you are moving Libraries at the finder level, be sure to consolidate all media into that Library before moving.

  • What you you warned about moving Libraries? FCPX will let you move them from inside the software. I move Libraries all the time to external drives.

Have you tried re-linking the clips? Highlight a missing clip and choose relink and locate the clips.

July 17, 2018 at 4:31 pm in reply to: Pod 5 App – How to get a cost estimate

There may be a simple way that I am just missing. Pond 5 site was down, so I will call support. The app itself is really easy and a great help. When I am done, I simply grab the project from the Library and drop it into the app. It replaces all the proxies with full res files. I imagine that it what Adobe Stock is like, but I think Pond5 has a lot more imagery and it works directly in X. Will let you know what I find out.

[Oliver Peters] “where two editors can SIMULTANEOUSLY work within the SAME timeline.”

I’m sorry, but this is a horrifying workflow, IMHO. Who the hell would EVER want that? Maybe I should just consider myself lucky never having had to work in a multi-editor workflow. I mean, outside of broadcast, where does this exist (not counting asst. editor tasks)?

  • [Craig Seeman] “Interesting that the screenshot at the bottom is Resolve, not FCPX. Features Blackmagic eGPU enclosure..”

there are other shots of X. I think it’s a good idea to show other, cross-platform products running on the new MBp.

[Oliver Peters] “Answering the question with a solution, or just saying it just can’t do that, is sufficient. Telling someone they aren’t using the app correctly is insulting.”

Where did I say he was using the program incorrectly? I have no idea how you are reading that in my response. I simply am giving tried and true advice to a person starting out on X.

[Oliver Peters] “So then tell me – if I have the FCPX UI spread across two displays, how do I also see a document in another app at the same time? “

Me? I have an iPad. I put the script on that. Or look at some of the other second display options. The fact is that apparently exactly what he wants isn’t in X right now. He has to use X now. So he adapts. Here are some ideas. We are not debating limitations of any one software, rather helping someone solve a problem. BBC ain’t gonna change because of this forum, so let’s help him out. Just pointing out perceived UI design deficiencies is not of any help.
