[Phil Lowe] ” I realize leaving a real audio mixer out of the X workflow is probably less threatening to kids editing cat videos for youtube, but an honest-to-goodness mixer doesn’t threaten me in the least.”

Well, I guess if we get a mixer, my “cat videos” can only get better on YouTube!

[Phil Lowe] “sing my Avid shortcut keys has really made the transition smoother than it otherwise would’ve been, but audio continues to be a major league PITA! So if there are any X developers reading this, PLEASE give us a bona fide audio mixer instead of the garbage pan & volume slider in the inspector! “

This is the mistake you make: trying to make X work like Avid. Learn the software the way it was designed, not based on what you know from traditional track-based softwares.

Full mixer for news packages? Why? Seems to me you can do those 1:15’s all day long without a mixer?

[Dean Neal] “I really like Blackmagic and Resolve is an amazing Color Grading solution… but they need to concentrate more on fixing things than rather just adding bells and whistles….”

    Exactly.

[Ricardo Marty] “At this pace one wonders what version 13 will bring.”

Maybe an editor one can trust? Got a ways to go, IMHO…

  • [Gary Huff] “It does everything you need and more.

Except be a rock solid editor. Look at Resolve as a cc/ finishing platform. Do your creative editorial elsewhere and head to Resolve for color when your picture is locked.

[Eric Santiago] “Current doc Im dealing with crashes on AVCHD files converted to ProRes422.”

Echoing Dean, why are you converting? I am dealing with AVCHD files on a 3 year old laptop every day with no issues. Is the conversion for downstream workflow issues?

  • [Andrew Kimery] “r you find an alternative business model like freemium, ad supported or subscription. I mean, in what way could Adobe compete the ‘$299 and free upgrades for life’ business model Apple has with X?”

How about “sponsored modules”. So Premiere could have “The Premiere title tool is brought to you by Yugo. Yugo and Adobe, partners moving forward”. Or pop-up ads on each interface module. Perhaps on the color corrector there could be an ad for 4K monitors? “After Effects Key Framing brought to you buy Bausch and Lomb. We have the products to see those little damn things”. Hey, it could happen! 😉

Seriously though, I will be interested to see who raises the monthly price first. It’s gonna have to happen.

  • Not sure why you would go to Motion. Kind of like using AE to finish and output a Premiere project. The proxy to full res workflow is very good from X to Resolve. If you can stay in Resolve for the finish and output, even better.

  • [Joe Loria] ” And the more I search, the more I see people dumping FCPX. “

Interesting. I see quite the opposite.
