  • [Simon Ubsdell] ” Nothing is more important than RESISTING THE TYRANNY OF SUBSCRIPTION.

I like the other model: where you pay once for your power and all the power and updates come free. Why would ANYONE do anything else?

[Tim Wilson] “Adobe Stock, like ALL stock media, was a good opportunity before you heard about this. It’s a better opportunity now. “

Sorry Tim. My post was pure tongue-in-cheek. Forgot the “wink” emoji.

I saw what Adobe was doing with Stock at the Max conference and came away mightily impressed. The search functionality alone was simply wicked. And all you need is an Adobe ID to use it versus having to have the Cloud.

[Tim Wilson] “YOU CAN SELL YOUR STUFF FROM INSIDE CREATIVE CLOUD.”

So, Stock might become the craigslist of imagery: “I got a picture of my uncle passed out at Thanksgiving. Who will give me $.50 for it?”

Just throw your crap up there and see what happens? Is anyone curating the imagery?

[Bill Davis] “It’ isn’t “dark” to note that that the links and hooks that Premiere is coming up with are (at least in some cases) are tied to revenue production.

Adobe Stock does it extremely openly and obviously.”

The company has to make money. Unlike Apple, Adobe needs to generate real revenue from it’s cloud products. They don’t have that iPhone juice. Avid does the same things because they are somewhat in the same boat as Adobe. The thing is, no one forces you to buy any more than you want to. That’s up to you.

Plus, Adobe stock is pretty cool. 😉

[Simon Ubsdell] “I’m just not convinced that it’s superior to Premiere in terms of layout options. That’s all.”

Totally cool, and you have given me some great ideas and layouts that I will incorporate into my current Premiere project. Thank you.

[Simon Ubsdell] “It might not suit you but it might be worth a try?

It might be, but at the end of the day, no matter how I customize Premiere, FXPX (for me) is the superior creative editorial tool (see Jeff’s post below) It just is (for me). So I can try to make Premiere look like X, but it still is the inferior creative tool when compared to FCPX (and before anyone flames this comment, I mean for me, my workflow and my clients. Not trying to impress this opinion on anyone else). Simply my choice.

I do thank everyone for these tips and layouts as they will help when I have to work on Premiere.

  • [Jeremy Garchow] “Premiere’s constant track height adjustment on mouse scroll is maddening. So are tracks, they will never be enough kb shortcuts to manage tracks and track selection.”
