So besides that not answering the question, I guess either a smaller drive is 1) faster
2) cheaper (even though irrelevant to me)
3) programs load into memory so speed isn’t a factor?
4) You may be telling me to use both these 1tb fast nvme’s: 1 for cache and one for media???

I’m just looking for best editing experience.

Well, my new GTX780 and ASUS X79 Deluxe 2012 mb are in the mail.
Should be a good build. My last video editing build was over 5yrs ago with the q9550

I watercool so yes, definitely OC to 4.5 or so. Will get ddr3 2400 32g and ssd’s plus ramdisc? And dedicated cache. Just need to figure it all out and choose the MB

I have CS6 nonCC master suite.
Just doing cc,titling etc. In AE nested comps with effects etc.
So it’s best to get the 780? The 760 has 4gigs of memory vs 3 but only 256bit vs 384.

The 760 is only $290 and the 780 $660

If Premiere can only use one gpu’s Cuda cores at a time then I’d get the gtx780, but if it can use two then the two 760’s with 4GB’s each would be way more (4×2 vs 3 the 780 has).
I guess it’s a matter of bandwidth… which setup works best for the application. This is what I’m trying to get a a handle on before buying.
Like I said, timeline viewings is most important. Rendering the final clip isn’t important because its done once vs the countless changes made in the making

As a note, I also plan to get 32gigs of 2400 ram and either the new Asus x79 Deluxe MB (gold colored one) or X79 Dark.

I currently have a 560Ti and used that link to get cuda working.

I forgot to mention I was thinking of getting two of those 760’s instead of one 780.
I guess my thought was that I read somewhere that Premier can only use one card but AE can speed up rendering using two cards or more.
Is this correct?
