I have 1tb Samsung 960 Pro and 970 EVO. Which one for OS Windows 10 would you use? And why
I just built a new PC. 7940X 14 Core, 64gigs memory, 1080ti, mono block waterblock with two 280 rads.
I installed Win 10 Pro on my new Samsung 960 Pro 1tb drive, but just ordered the new 970 EVO 1tb as well.
Which one would serve best as OS/program drive and other as cache?
Probably either I’m thinking, but just wanted your thoughts.
I also have 840 ssd’s as well for media -

Neither: get yourself a small disk for just OS and Programs.

Both are SSDs, and both are fast. I dont’ think you’ll see ANY difference if you use one over the other for either task, to b honest.

So besides that not answering the question, I guess either a smaller drive is 1) faster
2) cheaper (even though irrelevant to me)
3) programs load into memory so speed isn’t a factor?
4) You may be telling me to use both these 1tb fast nvme’s: 1 for cache and one for media???I’m just looking for best editing experience.

As Ann and Shane have stated, M.2 NVMe is overkill for OS.
Use the M.2’s for media.
