Nope, not on a lot of my stuff. They are live performances so actually I have them play as soon as they are put into the drive.

That’s a pain, but I guess we either live with it or move on….

    Thanks!

I let DVDA render my audio portion never the video portion. I make sure that is compatible when I render from Vegas. It has been quick in the past, just not this last group of DVD’s I did….

The process is slow in the preparation time, not burning. I use Taiyo Yuden DVD”s and have for over 10 years, love them.

For those of you who use DVDA to author only, do you create an ISO image or something else and then open that in Nero?

    Thanks everyone!

    I agree,
I have been using Sound Forge since 1998, and all the stuff Sony has made over the years since.
This can really make or break it for those of us who work in our studios as well as travel and do live gigs.
All these software companies tying our hands is really nuts.
There are times I will not use a laptop or computer for months and then will need it when I travel or have a big live gig. May or may not have internet and the LAST thing I need is to not have access or need to “plan ahead” to make sure I have software I have PURCHASED and that I can still use it….unbelievable!

THAT would be a major blow to those of us who have it installed on numerous computers, yet only use one at a time.
So now when I go to make changes to a project at a clients place, or coffee shop, instead of taking my laptop and a copy of the Veg file and footage, I either need to deactivate my huge editing suite computer or buy a second licence??? WOW!

Here is hoping that ISN’T the case!!!

Does this also mean that BCC, NewBlueFX and Hitfilm plugins may also not work right away with Vegas 14?

    Any input is helpful!!

I LOVE the Canon G30’s!!! (which are basically the XA20 & XA25 without the XLR and also the SDI on the XA25). I have three of them.
The update from the G30-G40 is only sensor based, so I didn’t make the jump.

I use them for run and gun, IMAG, plays, weddings, TV spots, and I have gotten great response from customers.

I use the HDMI to send to my ATEM switcher for live events, and when I need a long run use an Atomos Connect to send over SDI. I have 6 custom made PS3 controlled pan/tilt heads that also control the cameras, so the LANC connection is very important to me.

I would not hesitate to use the XA20 or XA25 at all. I have a glidecam operator who I use sometimes that has the XA25 and it looks great.

    Hope that helps!

  • I have been doing long and huge projects in Vegas for years. sometimes 12 or more lanes for multiple takes or camera angles, plus up to 24 tracks of audio with FX. It definitely pushes Vegas to the limits, but I save often. I have crashes daily with these projects, (on EVERY system I have and have used) but I only use nesting for credit roll. Reason being, making one small change to a credit roll seems to ALWAYS crash my systems. However, if I do it as a stand-alone and nest it, I don’t have the crashes.
I did have to break up a project around SVP 9 or 10 because it would JUST NOT RENDER the entire project. That is the only time in memory that I have done that.
I am seriously hoping for best (less crashes) results with SVP14 when it comes out, and also some improvements for rendering and such.

    Hope this helps!
