Give me your version numbers of everything you’re working with. Also tell me what codec you’re using inside of Media 100.

You won’t get uncompressed HD over Firewire 800.

The HDX hardware is not set up to support Y/C output. It may work but it has never been tested so we don’t know what type of video signal you’ll get out from it.

The reason the video output says SD Composite Y/C is because this functionality is supported by most of the AJA hardware. It is not supported by the HDX, just the Composite.

That looks like its going to be a pretty good system set up. I agree with Floh, you don’t need the two graphics cards. I think we have a couple of external drives inhouse right now that we’re testing with. We’re planning on updating the CPG information after NAB.

One other thing to check is the permissions on the files and folders for you Media. Most of the time I run into issues with Media from another system is permission related.

What is there to gain from upgrading your OS? Considering everything at stake there would have to be some extremely good benefits. If 10.2x is stable why move on? If it ain’t broke don’t break it.

This has always been the rule of thumb that I work by. What I’ve been telling anyone who’s looking to update to 10.4 is create two partitions one with the set up you have now, 10.3.x for most, then put 10.4 on the other partition. This way if you have problems you can go back to the 10.3 setup and continue working.
