Does this seem like a good core setup for a new HDe system (as soon as it is ready for intel)?

    Mac Pro – 3 ghz/4gb memory/2 500 gb drive/2 x NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256MB
    2.5 Tb Caldigit s2vrhd with FASTA-4e

    Thanks.

Why would you use 2 Graphics cards?

I bought an Intel Quad 2.66 machine with the intention of running the Intel build as soon as its available. I also populated all 4 internal drive slots with 500 gig drives. I then raided 2 of them together into a 1TB drive and it seems to be plenty fast enough for my needs.

That looks like its going to be a pretty good system set up. I agree with Floh, you don’t need the two graphics cards. I think we have a couple of external drives inhouse right now that we’re testing with. We’re planning on updating the CPG information after NAB.

    thanks for all the answers.

One follow up question about drives:

are people having luck with the caldigit drives doing uncompressed hd? and what sort of hd are people pulling off using just firewire 800 drives (if any?)? sounds like this could be answered in the next compat. periph. guide as well…

You won’t get uncompressed HD over Firewire 800.
