your right, i forgot they have that whole “media composer w/ nitris DX” now. I work on a symphony nitris (classic hardware), So when I see Nitris I automaticly think Symphony.
And your right that if your using media composer, than their is not much advantage in spending the extra cash on the nitris dx box.

Plus the nitris DX give you the symphony Nitris software, which basically means secondary color correction and a few other features.
They are pricey boxes, but I think they’re worth the investment.

This is the way I always move media….
1 – with your new “media” drive conected if their is any “avid mediafiles” floders on that drive just rename them with an “x” in front. (that way avid will not read those folders)
2 – go into your avid project and just create a title and save it to the “media” drive” this will have avid create a new “Avid mediafiles” folder.
3- now move all your exsisting media files into this new folder.
you may have to go down a level or two until you hit the inner most folder most likely named “1” example:
media drive letter:Avid MediaFilesMXF1
4 – after all your media files are moved in, you then must delete these two database files:
“msmFMID.pmr” and “msmMMOB.mdb”
5 – after deleting those 2 files go back into your avid project. Avid should automaticly rebuild the database files and your media should all be back online.good luck

I mainly work on Avid (PC) but work on FCP every once in awhile.
I’ll always suggest Avid but Premiere is closer to FCP and has an great suite of tools (after effects, encore, soundbooth, photoshop)If “more bang for your buck” on PC is what your looking for, than Premiere is the way to go. Because a Proper Avid setup will cost you the same, if not more than a Mac pro/FCP setup.

check your tri-level sync. I insert on hdcamSR all the time (at 59.94 and 23.98) without a problem. Also if you go into your video output tool, just click on the tri-level referance tab (this will cycle the ref for the aivd and get it to lock, if it wasn’t locked already)Scott Cumbo

Sounds like your drives aren’t fast enough. What kind of drives are you using? what resolution are you working at?

What kind of storage are you trying to play from?
I’ve done 9 camera multicam @ dnx145 (1080i 59.94) n a Symphony Nitris.

I usually use:
JPEG (Quality optins: 100, Baseline and Progressive are checked)
1920 x 1080 (16×9 square pixels) for 1080i video
size to fit
color level RGB
Singel FieldThey always look good. hope it helps

Check to make sure you have the correct version of Quicktime installed. The readme will tell you which version you need (it depends on which MC your are running)
