Thanks for all the great feedback, guys. If I was going to completely jump ship and go FCP X all the way, I would just learn all the FCP X shortcuts, but I basically want to jump around all the NLEs and maintain muscle memory…no matter how much time passes between projects. I basically have my Premiere set up like my Avid and it’s very helpful. FCP X is trickier, but I want to get it close.

Thanks, Tero. I did think of that, but the AAF or OMF doesn’t accurately capture audio levels either, so there would be no guide for the designer about which tracks I used in my edit. I get I could just unmute everything and let him pick through the tracks and use the ones he felt were best – also, I could give him notes, but these would probably be confusing and time consuming to make and would probably go unused. I wish there was an ideal way to send him the edit, basically how I mixed it in Premiere, but still give him access to all the material to change as he sees fit.

After quitting and restarting a few times and after several attempts, I was able to copy the problem multicam clip to a new track, flatten it and paste on the time remapping from the original. It wasn’t without error, but luckily, the error was that the tail end, after the remap, was set to the wrong speed. So, I just put that in line with the original clip and everything was ok. It definitely wasn’t a smooth fix though, so there is a problem here.

Thanks, Dennis. I am giving the sound designer those files, but they don’t come out of Premiere as well as from Avid. For example, there are no audio dissolves on the AAF and the OMF had all the levels flattened to -infinity.

Thanks, Craig. I can use my reference monitor, but without a wipe or means of quickly toggling back to a reference frame, I don’t know how to do proper match grading within Premiere. I’m primarily an editor, so don’t really want to dive into Speedgrade to do stuff like this. Should I put in a feature request to Adobe for this?
