I suspect that the 2/3″ XDCAM-HD will also shoot 4:2:2 SD, at a bit rate of 50mbps (like the PDW530), I see Sony positioning it somewhere in the mid to upper 30k range, and 40k would also be believeable.

Tim..could you answer a few quick questions about your XDCAM-HD 350?

First, when shooting frame rates above 30p, Sony states that the vertical rez is reduced. From “YOUR EYE” looking at the monitor, can you see a significant difference in the image quality with the reduced vertical rez from let’s say shooting 30p vs. 60p?

Second, what lens are you shooting with?

It’s to my understanding that you can digitize footage via firewire, but also the XDCAM has a feature (Menu) that you set that will allow your computer to see the camera as a hard drive. This way you can drag and drop (copy) if you will to a hard drive. NAB can’t come soon enough for me..I am really looking forward to seeing these new Cinealta XDCAM HD camera’s upsclose and getting the info first hand. I am still having a hard time with the 1/2 res in the variable frame rate mode. I wonder why Sony would do that? Why would anyone want to shoot 540 lines when they can have 1080 glory.
