  • Craig and Jeff:

    Thanks!

I already have a Maxtor 200GB Firewire Drive.

I can easily get more memory installed cheaply through the university where I work and being on the Board of the bookstore get a great price
    on memory.

I’m thinking of the iMac G5 latest edition, 20″ monitor, with 2 GB of extra memory. This will cost me about $1800 plus tax.

The Power Mac with a 20″ monitor will run me over $3000, more than I can easily afford.

Thanks for all the help David. It now comes down to the Petrol bag you’re recommending or a Kata MC-61.
I’m leaning towards the Petrol bag based on your recommendation, but the other one also looks very good.
It appears to be a win-win re either bag. B and H is also offering the Petrol plus their LCD monitor for what appears to be a good deal.

If you have any knowledge of and thoughts about the Kata please let me know; otherwise just thanks again for taking the time.

How does the weight feel David? It lists at 7 lbs. plus which sounds a little heavy for travel.
Do I need to start doing bench presses to prepare?

    Thanks.

    David:

Could you tell me which one? The second one down looks as though it’s for the Sony only. Do you mean the PCUB-1?

    thanks.

Will that tax break work even if I’m not a business?
I do videos to use for educational audiences and am a professional educator.

    Thanks.

    Barry and Tim…thanks.

    One last question.
I’m convinced. It will be either B & H or Snader and Associates, a very reliable local dealer (authorized!).
But since I live in California I would have to pay 7.75 percent sales tax…about $250+ which I would avoid through B and H.
Always a tradeoff. But what would you guys do?

Oh yeh, I left out the part about my not being rich!

    Thanks Jan.

    Mack says “no”

Would you buy it anyway if it was a savings of about $400 over a new one?
This is a judgement call but given your experience I figure your judgement is probably better than mine.

    Thanks.
