Yeah, I would love to be able to convert it myself, but I’m getting so much content every twenty minutes or so and am trying to churn out the videos as fast as I can. It’s eating up way too much time converting it myself. I’ve given the reporters detailed instructions on how to convert, so I’m not too worried about them really screwing it up. But I would like to know the next best option for a codec that will be the easiest to edit in and the fastest render.

The codec options on the other computers are:

Apple Planar RGB, Sorenson Video Compressor, Sorenson Video 3 Compressor, Apple BMP, H.264, Apple Cinepak, Apple DVCPRO50-NTSC, Apple DVCPRO50-PAL, Apple DV/DVCPRO50-NTSC, Apple DV-PAL, Apple DVCPRO-PAL, Apple H.261, H.263, Apple VC H.263, Apple Intermediate Codec, Apple Photo-JPEG, JPEG 2000 Encoder, Apple Motion JPEG A, Apple Motion JPEG B, Apple MPEG4 Compressor, Apple pNG, Apple Pixlet Video, Apple Animation, Apple Video, Apple Graphics, Apple TGA, Apple TIFF, Apple Component Video-YUV422, No Video

I do have it available on the computer I’m editing on, but I would like the people who are gathering content on the Flip cameras to be able to convert it themselves before they give it to me to edit. The computers they’re using don’t have Final Cut or Quicktime Pro. Any other codec suggestions, or do I just need to convert them all to Apple Pro Res on my computer? Thanks!

Ok, so I have a new question. I’m converting video that’s MPEG4 to MOV, so that’s why I was using H.264 earlier. I’m converting it through MPEG Streamclip, but they don’t have an option to convert it using Apple Pro Res unless you have the options available through Quicktime Pro. Any suggestions for the next best codec? Thanks for your help!

It’s Quicktime, H.264. Sequence is 1280×720, square pixels. 4GB of RAM, Processors are 2.66 GHz. No filters, just a few different layers of video. I’m on a 17″ MB Pro. It’s going crazy slow! Thanks for your help!
