sorry i was i a hurry , i wrote the error msg wrong! it goes “final cut pro quit unexpectedly while using the AvidAvdAVdncodec plug-in” …. i removed FCS and reinstalled it again … still getting the same message!
this is getting really annoying

any help please!

I just tried what Rafael told me,so what I have now that part of my movie that are MPEG and H264 are still working fine with QT X with the ability to quick preview the content by pressing the space bar,in the other hand I changed the default player of the Prores and dv movies to QT 7 , it gave me a message box saying that “this change will apply to all final cut pro documents with extension .mov”

So now I’m able to to view the Prores and dv via QT 7,but I don’t have the ability to quick preview using the space bar,which I can live with for the time been!

Thank u Rafael and Everest for ur help,hopefully i will be able to fix this quick preview thing soon.I just hate it when smthg is not working properly on my MacBook 🙂

I have been trying to isolate the codecs that actually opening in QT X , it seems it’s able to play MPEG codecs and H 264 codecs,but it can’t open the dv and the Prores codecs,do u think if I reinstall the whole final cut studio would reconnect QT with the “missing codecs”,and hopefully it will work normally again!?btw,does FCS has QT X in it’s applications bundle that would be installed once u install the whole studio?

I don’t really remember why this started to happen,it’s just I was busy and I kinda let it go!

So do u recommend that I uninstall QT 7 and try to reinstall QT 10 again ?

Do u think I should uninstall PERIAN as well??

During these past 2 days we have read all kind of comments and comparisons and assumptions and filling in the blanks!some say fcp X is an Imovie pro,other say it has a Smoke look others say it’s a Sony Vegas imitation,etc…some say Apple abandoned the pros,others are sad cuz it’s too cheap,some others are just too lazy to learn and wants a “faster horse”…

As I see it ,Apple people got exactly what They intended from the demo!they made a huge buzz about their new product,editing forums are crowded with comments about the new flashy features,and they got the marketing ball rolling!… I wonder why none of this happens when adobe or avid has new product!that’s what apple people does,that’s what they excell at!

I frankly don’t see what’s wrong if apple is able to deliver a brand new product that appeals to prosumers and still be able to fulfill Pros expectation!who said pro stuff should be ugly and complicated or else it’s labeled as consumer application!as long as fcp is up to the job I don’t care if it looks like “windows movie maker”

After all ,we are gonna wait until June , download the new X , we will love it ,and a year later we will be nagging why the magnetic timeline only works only on audio and not on video as well!

i just tried to change the audio playback setting , and i channeled it to Blackmakgic audio 3,and it worked like a charm!

But regarding the capture,i switched the SDI connection to the other available input interface but i still dont get signal into FCP log & capture tool!i tried the same while using the Blackmagic ”Media Express ” application and i was able to get a video signal just from one SDI input and not the second!

is it possible that the second SDI input is not giving any signal and that the FCP is only recognizing this very non-working input!

the GFX are diffrent kinds of lower thirds with specific color for each jockey , stings , alpha transition , score boards … the moving elements are quicktime files with an animation codecs and the rest are just PSD files !

i mean that sound that you get when the OS is not able to perform a task either because if its not possible or if there is an error !

its not working Jeremy , when i do it , it gives me the system error bump , while opening all the media files all greyed , with nothing highlighted to select!
