Thank you for replying to this old thread of mine. While I never resolved this and it continued to be intermittent for me that this problem appeared, I expect your solution was my issue. I often use Notepad++ especially when scripting Photoshop for various tasks, so it’s likely that this is my issue – I’ll keep an eye on it as this sounds like its probably my problem. I never expected this could be it because I thought as long as the Photoshop application had focus, that it would take all keystrokes – it didn’t occur to me that another app could take over a keystroke system wide. So thanks for sharing your experience – doing so will help others who google and get stuck but don’t post. Appreciate it! 🙂

Btw – it is ONLY Ctrl+E for Merge Down that is not working. All other keyboard shortcuts work.

Just found something else out. Tried a different user logged into Windows. Ctrl+E magically works again.

Is there a more comprehensive way (other than uninstall/reinstall of CS6) of resetting Photoshop user settings if relaunching with Shift+Ctrl+Alt doesn’t work – but logging into Windows as a different user and launching Photoshop to the same file makes it work again?

That’s good to know – I’ll check them out – but hopefully you can tell me if your Kingstons have been hammered in production and had no problems with drifting audio or anything with the DN-60. (What camera are you using it with if I may ask? Perhaps my problems are from the Sony Z1 side of things?)

I just checked and it was the 32Gb Adata 533X and the 32Gb Transcend 400X ones that all didn’t work or were very unreliable in the DN-60. Their specs say they are fast enough, but they just don’t cut it.

Unless you really have pushed those Kingstons and had no problems, I might just have to bite the bullet and grab the SanDisks…

My experience using the DN-60 with a Sony Z1 camera was quite unreliable with 2 other brands I’ve tried. I tried the cheap Adata 32Gb CF cards and the normally awesome Transcend CF 32Gb – both of which claim to be rated much more of a data rate than the video requires (and they do perform fast with typical file copies I’ve done with them) – but neither the Transcend nor Adata work 100% all the time.

I’ve had issues where the card would be recognized and work, and then re powering up after a break from shooting and the Adata would not be recognized by the DN-60 and need to be reformatted.

Also the Transcend (who btw I LOVE for their SD cards) worked fine for short clips but longer shots had audio drifting progressively so there was no fix in the edit. Thank goodness I also had a tape in there or I would have been screwed for that production.

I am going to try using only the Sandisk CF cards recommended here and see if they are 100% or if the problem is with the DN-60 itself. Just thought I’d mention my experience because – these are some fast CF cards I tried – supposedly much faster than the DN-60 needs, but still they are not reliable enough that I would ever shoot again with it – at least not without tape backup.

I read somewhere that it has to do with how Sandisk handles UDMA – but I know nothing about how that works really or the difference between the cards / drivers.

My system was set up by my digital video vendor and I haven’t been able to take it in to have them look at it and I don’t know off the top of my head whether there is a root account or not – the main account I am interested in is called User – so I assume it is not root. I’m used to logging in as Admin in Windows (because so many apps have problems with permissions installing etc if you don’t in Windows) and I should probably follow best practices for the Mac/Unix world now…

One question though if I do set up another account – how can i repair the original User account so that I can remove the offending startup app that is causing the problem – I’d really rather not lose my settings for that account.

thanks – my thoughts exactly. I think I’ll use the Intensity Pro’s output for now until I have time to try some comprhensive tests. When I do get time to test it very thorughly I’ll post my results here in case anyone is interested.

Yup, it’s no problem to rename audio (or video) tracks in premiere pro. Just right click on them and Rename. One toggles between tracks by highlighting the track by selecting it on it’s left hand side. You will see that one Video or one Audio track is generally darker when selected.

I was making each scene a separate sequence, and had originally wanted to then have the master be consisting of each of the sequences dragged to the timeline. Yes this works fine off the external maxtor 300gb no problem, however, I did have some trouble getting the transitions to work well between sequenced scenes in the master as I hadnt given enough pre and post roll in each sequence.

So I ended up just making sure all the track names matched between sequences and then just cut & pasted to the master (not ideal as if a scene changes it would need to change in both places). and that worked.

My finished product is DVD (but since it’s edited in HDV I can burn to HD-DVD or BluRay when that becomes available to me too).

Just wondered if anyone else is having similar issues workflow wise and wanted to see what others do…
